Lesson158「可能性を表す形容詞とto不定詞」
Mark）Hi, Vanessa. How’s your judo club doing?
Vanessa）Very well, thanks. Amanda, one of my teammates, will compete in the prefectural tournament next Sunday.
Mark）You mean Amanda Kurz? We went to the same elementary school.
Vanessa）Oh, I didn’t know that.
Mark）I can’t believe she’s gotten so strong. Do you think she has a good chance to win?
Vanessa）Absolutely. She is sure to win.
Mark）Great. Wish her good luck for me.
Vanessa）I will.

＊形容詞と to 不定詞のコンビネーション。可能性を表す形容詞は頻繁に to 不定詞と結びつきく。to 不定詞を示すから
＊" likely " は「～の可能性が高い」。
＊ " unlikely " は「～の可能性が低い」。
＊ " certain " は「sure」よりも確信が高い。

（例文）
・She is certain to lose her cool.
　彼女は確実に激怒するだろうな。
・His book is〔likely / unlikely〕to sell well.
　彼の本はたくさん（売れそう/売れなさそう）だ。
・Do you think she has a good chance to win ?
　君は彼女が優勝するチャンスがあると思う？

（解説）
1) " scatterbrained " = " absent-mineded " = 落ち着きがない

2) " have trouble ～ing " = ～するのが難しい, " tell ... apart " = ～を見分ける
