~ラジオ英会話10月のテーマと目的~
・「 to 不定詞 , 動詞ing 」は文中の置かれる場所により、主語・目的語・修飾語句と様々な役割を果たす。
・ " to " の場所を意識し「to 不定詞」をマスターする

 

Lesson126:「 to不定詞⑤ 動詞句の説明(目的, 結果)」

 A) Hi, Professor Peacock! That’s a big suitcase. Are you going overseas again?
 B) Oh, hi, Jessica. Yes, I’m going to Egypt to do some scuba diving.
 A) Scuba diving in Egypt? Why don’t you go to Hawaii or Mexico?
 B) It’s for my research. I’m not going for pleasure. Some ancient statues have been  discovered at the bottom of the River Nile.
 A) Oh, please take a lot of good pictures!
 B) I’ll try. I just bought a new underwater camera.
 A) Well, have a good time in Egypt, Professor. I guess you want to go into the Great  Pyramid again.
 B) Yes, I’m looking forward to doing that, too.

 

Lesson127:「 to不定詞⑥ 動詞句の説明(判断の根拠 , 感情の原因)」

 A) Who’s that woman getting out of the fancy looking car? I’ve never seen her before.
 B) She’s our new ballet teacher. You were absent last week you didn’t get to meet her.
 A) Oh, I see.
 B) I heard she’s won lots of prizes all over the world. She’ very beautiful, isn’t she?
 A) She certainly is. And she must be rich to own such an expensive car. l’d like to become famous and successful someday, just like her.
 B) I think you can be a great ballet dancer, tool. You’re really expressive.
 A) Thanks. I have to practice harder and harder.

 

Lesson128:「 to不定詞⑦ 形容詞とのコンビネーション」

 A) Are you going to wear a Halloween costume this year?
 B) Yes. I was thinking about dressing up as a pirate.
 A) Again? You were a pirate last year. Think of a different character.
 B) Do you have any suggestions?
 A) Well, how about a vampire? All you need is a black cloak and fangs. Then you’ll look just like one!
 B) But my wife will know it’s me. She is hard to fool.
 A) Oh, you want to trick your wife?
 B) Yes, I love to play tricks on her. But sometimes she get angry.
 A) Be careful! Anyway, have a Happy Halloween!

 

Lesson129:「 to不定詞⑧ そのほかののコンビネーション」

A) Hí,Mario. You look kind of worried. Is something bothering you?
B) Well, my nephew Harry is getting married next week.
A) What’s so bad about that? You should be happy for him.
B) I am, but I have to give a speech. I’ve never given a speech at a wedding before. I don’t know what to say.
A) Don’t worry, Mario. Just speak from your heart. And say how lucky your nephew is. What’s the bride’s name?
B) Meghan.
A) Oh, Harry and Meghan! Just like the royal couple!
B) Yes. She’s a lovely young lady. I’ve gotten to know her very well over the last few months.

パートナーと別れるのは大変だね。絶対次の人が見つかるけど、孤独を感じたらいつでも相談に乗ってあげるよ

- Simple Answer -

I’m so sorry to hear that. I know it’s tough to break up with a partner. You’re sure to find another one in no time, but if you feel lonely, just call me. I’m always happy to talk to you.

- Advanced Answer -

Oh, no! I’m really sorry to hear that. It will obviously take you a while to get over this, but you’ll be fine. And there are plenty of other fish in the sea, right? So it will be easy to find a great guy soon. But for now, if you ever feel down, I’ll be glad to lend you a shoulder to cry on.
