・「 to 不定詞 , 動詞ing 」は文中の置かれる場所により、主語・目的語・修飾語句と様々な役割を果たす。
・ " to " の場所を意識し「to 不定詞」をマスターする

Lesson121：「 to不定詞①主語位置に置かれた to 不定詞」

1）新しい友達を作ることは、そんなに簡単なことではない。
2）新しい友達を作るには時間がかかる。
3）保険をかけずに旅行に行くのは決して賢明ではない。
4）この段階であきらめることはまったく選択肢にはない。

1）To make new friends is not so easy.
2）It takes time to make new friends.
3）It’s never advisable to travel without insurance.
4） To give up at this stage is simply not an option.

Lesson122：「 to不定詞②目的語位置に置かれた to 不定詞」

1）私はもっと上手に話せる様になりたい
2）今週の土曜日にバーベキューをしようと私は計画しています。
3）彼らは損害を賠償することに同意した。
4）だいたい昼食の時間に、私たちは到着すると思います。

1）I want to become fluent in English.
2）I’m planning to have(hold) a barbecue this Saturday.
3）They’ve agreed(compensate , cover) to pay for the damage.
4）We expect to arrive around lunchtime.
    = I think we will arrive around lunchtime.

Lesson123：「 to不定詞③ 説明型・説明語句位置の to 不定詞」
1）私の目標はがんの治療法を見つけることです。
2）テストに合格するつもりなら、今よりもはるかに一生懸命勉強しなければならないよ。
3）君たちはみんな今すぐ謝罪しなければならない。
4）アメリカの大統領は来週ロシアの大統領と会う予定です。
5）ガレージで始まった会社は世界最大の小売業者となるのであった。
6）私たちの目標は英文法をはるかに理解しやすくすることです。

1）誰か車に乗せてくれる人が必要なんだね？
2）書くことが何もありません。
3）書くものが何もありません。
4）僕にスペイン語を教えてくれる人を探しています
5）親には子どもを養う義務があります。

1）Do you need someone to give you a ride ?
2）I have nothing to write.
3）I have nothing to write with.
4）I’m looking for someone to teach me Spanish.
5）Parents have a duty to support their children.

Lesson126：「 to不定詞⑤ 動詞句の説明（目的, 結果）」

1）スキューバダイビングをしにエジプトに行くところなんですよ。
2）彼は成長して有名な建築家になった。
3）ゲートに急いで行ったが、その飛行機がすでに出発したことが分かっただけだった。
4）私の息子は英語を勉強するためにオーストラリアに行きました。
5）私たちが家に帰ったら泥棒に入られていた

1）I’m going to Egypt to do some scuba diving.
2）He grew up to be a famous architect.
3）We rushed to the gate only to find that the flight had already departed.
4）My son went to Australia to study English.
5）We returned home to find we had been burgled!

Lesson127：「 to不定詞⑥ 動詞句の説明（判断の根拠 , 感情の原因）」

1）あんな高級車を持っているなんてお金持ちにちがいないわ。
2）私達の決定を批判するなんて彼は何様なんだ？
3）両親は私のいい成績を聞いて大喜びした。
4）1週間で2回マラソンを走るなんて、彼女はものすごく健康にちがいないね。
5）自宅が溶岩で壊されるのを見て、彼らは打ちのめされているにちがいない。

1）She must be rich to own such an expensive car.
2）Who is he to criticize our decision?
3）My parents were delighted to hear about my excellent grades.
4）She must be extremely fit to run two marathons in one week.
5）They must be devastated(knocked out , clashed) to see their homes destroyed by the lava.

Lesson128：「 to不定詞⑦ 形容詞とのコンビネーション」
1）彼女をだますのは難しいんだ。
2）私のパートナーは喜ばせるのが簡単だ。
3）喜んで君に推薦状を書いてあげるよ。

1）She is hard to fool.
2）My partner is easy to please.
3）I’m happy to write you a letter of recommendation.
 ＊" I’m willing to" → 「やらないといけない」ならするよ
　 " I’m happy to" →「やりたい」

Lesson129：「 to不定詞⑧ そのほかののコンビネーション」

1）何を言えばいいのか分からないのさ。
2）この夏どこにバケーションに行くかまだ決めている途中です。
3）僕はこの数か月で彼女のことをよく知るようになったよ。
4）今夜の夕食に何を作ったらいいのか分からない。
5）パンクの直し方が分かるかな？

1）I don’t know what to say.
2）We’re still deciding where to go on vacation this summer.
3）I’ve gotten to know her very well over the last few months.
4）I have no idea what to cook(make , prepare) for tonight’s dinner.
5）Do you know how to fix(repair) a flat tire?

Lesson125：「Practical Challenge 」
「二度と遅刻しません」と約束してくれたのですが、今日も10分遅れで教室にやって来ました。車の運転士には時間に正確であることが要求されます。こんなことを続けていては夢を実現することはできませんよ

- Simple Answer -
You promised not to be late again, but look what’s happening. Your goal is to be a train driver, right? That job requires punctuality. If you go on like this, you won’t be able to get your dream job!
- Advanced Answer -
I can’t believe you’re late again, despite all your promises. And yet you say you want to be a train driver in the future. You know, to be punctual is an essential requirement of such a job. If you are to realize your dream, you’re going to have to change your ways!

Lesson130：「Practical Challenge 」

それはお気の毒にね。パートナーと別れるのは大変だね。絶対次の人が見つかるけど、孤独を感じたらいつでも相談に乗ってあげるよ

- Simple Answer -
I’m so sorry to hear that. I know it’s tough to break up with a partner. You’re sure to find another one in no time, but if you feel lonely, just call me. I’m always happy to talk to you.
- Advanced Answer -
Oh, no! I’m really sorry to hear that. It will obviously take you a while to get over this, but you’ll be fine. And there are plenty of other fish in the sea, right? So it will be easy to find a great guy soon. But for now, if you ever feel down, I’ll be glad to lend you a shoulder to cry on.
