Dialog6「Easter Egg Hunt」

A) You’re dyeing a lot of eggs!
B) I’m afraid I’m in over my head!
A) How many kids are coming?
B) Eighteen so far!
A) Oh, boy. It’s getting out of hand.
B) You said it!
A) Would you like me to pick up a couple of bags of plastic eggs?
B) Oh, would you? That would solve the problem!

- Words & Expressions -
・dye 　染める、染色する「die と発音は同じ」
・in over one's head　完全にお手上げで
・Oh, boy　ああ、大変だ。すごい。
・get out of hand 　手に負えなくなる
・You said it!　そのとおり！
・pick up　買う
・straight to –　〜まで一本で、乗り換えなしで
・That would solve the problem!　そうだとうまくいきますが、助かります！

- Apply It -
It’s getting out of hand.
手に負えなくなってきました。

＊状況を伝える表現。" get out of hand " は物事が手中から外へ出る、コントロールできなくなるという状況を表す表現。何とかしなければならないという気持ちで使われる。

- Say It -
You said it!
＊ " said it " はリンクし「セでっと」みたいな感じ。" t " は言わなくてもいい。「まさにその通り」と強調するなら " you " も強める。

- Write It -
ある女性が復活祭の卵探しのために卵をたくさん染めていますが、子どもがあまりにも多く来るので手に負えなくなってきています。夫が助け船を出します。

・" children " は少しフォーマル。" kids " は少しインフォーマル。
