Dialog7「Oceans of Trouble?」

A) Dolphin, is that you behind the kelp?
B) Shh, Whale! My boss is over there leading his pod.
A) What’s the problem?
B) I have two strikes against me. I was late for work yesterday and I called in sick today.
A) Oh, boy. What are you going to do?
B) Could you swim in front of them while I slip out?
A) Okay. I’ve got you covered!

・人 is that you?　〜さん、そこにいるのは？
・kelp 　昆布
・pod 　（イルカ、クジラ、アシカなどの）群れ
・have two strikes against 人　〜はツーストライクをとられている。後がない
・be late for work　仕事に遅刻する
・call in sick　病欠の連絡をする
・Could you B while l A？　私がAする間、Bしてくれませんか？
・slip out 　こっそり抜け出す

私はツーストライクをとられています。

＊状況を伝える表現。野球のカウントに由来するイディオムで、もう一つまずいことがあると、アウトだという意味です。" have a strike against me " なら、問題が1つであることを示す。

- Say It -
Could you swim in front of them while I slip out?
＊長い文も省エネで楽々。" swim, front, slip out " を強め、" while I " は「ウぁライ」と省エネ。　

- Write It -
仕事をあまりしないあるイルカはツーストライクをとられています。その友人のクジラが、ボスの目を避けて昆布の陰に隠れている彼を見つけ、カバーしてやります。

・" A dolphin, who is not a very good worker " = まず、誰かと言い切って、後付けする
・His whale friend = A whale, (who is) his friend,
・" has " , " has got " the both of same meaning. The both are perfectly fine.
