Dialog5「My New Place」

 A) 引っ越したんですってね！すっかり落ち着いたの？
 B) ええ、まずまず。
 A) どんな感じのアパートなの？
 B) 悪くないんだよ。リビングは広くて、バルコニーがあって、外に座って夕焼けを楽しめるんだ。
 A) 完璧じゃない！
 B) ただひとつ問題なのが、キッチンでアリを見つけたことだよ。
 A) それは何とかなるわ。
 B) だといいけど。

 A) I heard you moved! Are you all settled in?
 B) Yes, more or less.
 A) What’s your apartment like?
 B) It’s not bad. The living room is spacious. There’s a balcony where I can sit outside and enjoy the sunset.
 A) Sounds perfect!
 B) The only thing is that I discovered ants in the kitchen.
 A) That can be taken care of.
 B) I hope so.

- Words & Expressions -

・my place 　自分の住まい
・I heard you moved! 　引っ越したそうですね！
・all settled in（引っ越して）すっかり落ち着いて
・more or less 　まずまず、いくぶん
・What’s – like?　 〜はどんな感じ（の場所・人・物）ですか？
・It’s not bad. 　悪くないですよ。なかなかいいですよ。
・spacious 　広い、ゆったりしていて
・balcony 　バルコニー [bǽlkəni]
・Sounds perfect! 　完璧ですね！
・The only thing is (that) – 　ただひとつ問題なのは〜ということです
・That can be taken care of. 　それは何とかなります。

What’s your apartment like?
どんな感じのアパートなんですか？

＊説明を求める表現。" What's ... like? "は、...の性質を求める表現で、外見より「内容・機能・性格・印象」にフォーカスしている。

A) I bought a car.
B) What’s it like?
A) It’s a Kuruman. It’s a zippy little car. （速くて小型の車）
B) Sounds great!

＊文末にある前置詞はある程度、強める。

男性はアパートに引っ越したところです。彼はそこが気に入っていますが、キッチンでアリを発見しました。彼の友だちはそれは何とかなると言っています。

The man has moved to a new apartment. He likes it there but he has discovered ants in his kitchen. His friend says that can be taken care of.
（解説）
・" He likes the place very much " = incorrect
・適切に現在完了を使う。
