・「倒置・疑問文」をマスターする
・倒置＝語順を変えること。主語―助動詞倒置をできるようにし、会話の肝である疑問文を作れるようにする。

Lesson164：「否定疑問文」
（状況）父親と一緒にスマートフォンショップに入った

A) Dad, let’s go into this shop.
B) A smartphone shop? You already have a smartphone.
A) I know, but I want to see the latest model. Mine is three years old. Oh, here it is. It’s so cool!
B) Look at the price, though. That’s more than twice the price of the one you have now.
A) But it’s so much better than mine. Won’t you buy it for me, Dad?
B) Let’s wait a few months for the price to come down.
A) Don’t you love me?
B) Of course I love you, but if you think I’m going to change my mind… you’re right!
A) Thanks, Dad!

A) お父さん、この店に入りましょうよ。
B) スマートフォンショップにかい？お前はもうスマホを持っているじゃないか。
A) そうよ、でも最新機種を見てみたいの。私のは3年前のものだから。ああ、ここにあったわ。すてき！
B) だけど値段を見てごらん。今お前が持っているものの2倍以上もするよ。
A) でも、私のよりずっといいわ。お父さん、私にそれを買ってくれないかしら？
B) 値段が下がるまであと2〜3カ月待とうじゃないか。
A) 私のこと愛していないの？
B) もちろん愛しているさ。だが、父さんが考えを変えるつもりがあるとお前が思っているなら……そのとおりだよ！
A) ありがとう、お父さん！

＊「Do you love me?」は平たい言い方。「Don't you love me?」は感情がこもっている。

- Real grammar for communication -

・Don’t you love me?
あなたは私のことを愛していないのですか？
・Won’t you buy it for me, Dad?
お父さん、私にそれを買ってくれないかしら？

＊「Won’t you ~」は丁寧な依頼。「駄目かもしれないけど、お願い」という響きがある。ねっちこい依頼。
＊否定の疑問文は、通常の疑問文と比べ「意外,心外,同意」を求める気持ちなど感情的色彩が強い表現。

（例文）

・Can’t you simply forgive and forget?
単に許して忘れる（水に流す）ことはできないの？
・Doesn’t she realize how lucky she is?
彼女は自分がどれほどラッキーなのか分からないの？
・Isn’t this an awesome party?
これってすごいパーティーじゃない？

＊否定疑問文の応答は、Not をカウントせず普通の返し方と同じ

1) この件がどれほど急を要するのか彼らは理解していないのかい？
2) 僕が君に送ったメール、まだ読んでいないの？

（答え）
1) Don’t they understand how urgent this matter is?
2) Haven’t you read the mail I sent you?
（解説）
1）urgent = critical, pressing.
2）非難する雰囲気で言っている
