Dialog7 「Betsy Gets Sick」
（状況）翌朝、家族で朝食をとっている
A) 今日は学校に行っていい？
B) 今日はだめ。あなたはまだ微熱があるわ。
A) でも、ずっとよくなったみたい！
C) 普通の体温になったら学校に行ってもいいよ。僕らは、君にぶり返してほしくないんだ。
A) パパ！声が出なくなってる！
C) ベッツィー、君は大丈夫かい？
B) 頭痛と鼻づまりがするの。
C) まずい。僕の風邪が移ってしまった！
A) Can I go to school today?
B) Not today. You still have a slight fever.
A) But I feel much better!
C) You can go to school when your temperature is normal. We don’t want you to have a relapse.
A) Dad! You’re losing your voice!
C) Betsy, are you feeling all right?
B) I have a headache and a stuffy nose.
C) Uh-oh. You caught my cold!
- Words &Expressions -
・congested = つまった (喉・車などがうまく通らない状態)
・have a slight fever＝ 微熱がある
・I feel much better！ずっとよくなっています！調子がずっといいです！
・hoarse ＝しわがれた、かすれた(声について) horseと同じ発音
・-‘s temperature is normal＝ 〜の体温は普通。正常です。
・have a relapse ＝ぶり返す
・lose one’s voice＝ 声が出なくなる
・stuffy nose ＝鼻づまり
・Uh-oh. ＝まずい。おっと。
・X catches Y’s cold.＝ XにYの風邪が移る , XがYの風邪をもらう
- Apply It -
We don’t want you to have a relapse.
私たちはあなたにぶり返してほしくないんです
＊気遣いの表現。" have a relapse " は重篤な病気にも使う。

A) Ken says he can go to work today.
B) He should stay home one more day.
A) I agree.
B) We don’t want him to have a relapse.

You caught my cold!
＊" t , d " が消える。語末にある" t , d " は、言ったつもりでこらえて、音として出さないことがある。省エネの原理

サムにはまだ微熱があり、ベッツィーは彼に（風邪を）ぶり返してほしくないと思っています。ジャックは彼の風邪がベッツィーに移ったと思っています。
Sam still has a slight fever and Betsy doesn’t want him to have a relapse. Jack thinks Betsy caught his cold.
- In Another Situation -
They are a family of wrestlers. レスラー
Can I go to work today?
Not today. You still have a slight fever.
But I feel much better!
You can go to work when your temperature is normal. We don’t want you to have a relapse. Or, give children wrestler your cold.
Dad! You’re losing your voice!
No. This is my normal voice. Betsy, are you feeling all right? You sound coldest to me.
I have a headache and a stuffy nose.
Uh-oh. You caught my cold!
No! You caught mine.
Oh, that is a perfect example role. The family that cares about each other.
