Lesson104「発言に関わる動詞①：speak, talk」

A) Hi, Ken. Can you give me some advice?
B) Sure, Aoi. What’s up?
A) I need to give a presentation next week, but I’m worried about it. I hate to speak in front of people.
B) Don’t worry. Just relax and make sure you’re prepared.
A) I want to use lots of slides .
B) Actually, I think it’s better not to use too many slides. Speaking in your own words is important.
A) OK. Can you listen to it later?
B) Sure. I have time today.

① Just relax and make sure you’re prepared.
　ただ気を楽にして、しっかり準備するのを忘れないことだね。
② Actually, I think it’s better not to use too many slides.
　実のところ、スライドはあまり多くは使わないほうがいいと思うよ。
③ Speaking in your own words is important.
　君自身の言葉で話すことが大切なんだ。

＊ " speak " は「単に音声を出す」。（例）スピーカー。
＊ " talk " は「おしゃべりをする」。言葉によるコミュニケーションを意味する動詞。。
＊ " speech " は「壇上に立ち一方的に話をする感触」。
＊ " peace talks " は「和平会談や話し合い」。

・You can come to me anytime you want to talk.
　話したければいつでも僕のところにおいでよ。
・I don’t want to speak about it right now.
　今はそれについて口に出したくない。
・I don’t want to talk about it right now.
　今はそれについて君と話し合いたくない
