Lesson224：「文型④　授与型」

 A) Dad, my new company offered me a much better position.
 B) Really? Congratulations! What is the position?
 A) Sales Manager. The director in charge appreciated my experience in sales and marketing.
 B) I’m very proud of you.
 A) Thank you. Actually, I’m a little nervous about the new position.
 B) Don’t worry. You’ll do fine.
 A) I hope so. Do you have any advice for me?
 B) Well, follow your dream and enjoy your work. That’s the most important thing.
 A) All right. I’ll keep that in mind.
 B) I think you’ll get busy, so please take care of yourself.

- Real grammar for communication -
My new company offered me a much better position.
私が入社したばかりの会社がずっといい役職をくれた。

＊この文は、授与型。動詞の後ろに2つの名詞を置いて作る。授与型の配置で使われた場合、あらゆる動詞に " give " の意味が付く。言うという意味の「say, talk, speak, tell」のうち授与型の取るのは " tell " のみ。それはこの動詞が「メッセージを渡す」というイメージを持ち、授与型に適した意味合いを持つから。

・Read me that email message again, will you?
　そのメールのメッセージをもう一度僕に読んでくれない？
・My girlfriend wrote me a beautiful poem for my birthday.
　僕のガールフレンドは僕の誕生日に美しい詩を書いてくれました。
・She told me the news.
　彼女は私にそのニュースを話した。

1) その大変な経験は、私自身についてのたくさんの事を、私に教えてくれた。
2) ティナとキースが,,私に新婚旅行の写真を見せてくれた。
3) ひどい道路状況によって、家に車で帰るのに3時間かかった。

1) That challenging experience taught me a lot about myself.
2) Tina and Keith showed me their honeymoon photos last night.
3) It took me three hours to drive home due to the terrible road conditions.
（解説）
1）" challenging " = difficult = tough = demanding
3）ここの take はマイナスイメージ
