・今年度のテーマは、単語・英語表現のイメージ。日本語訳ではなく、イメージで単語を操作することで、英会話は飛躍する。

Lesson7：「overの意味の広がり」

A) Thanks for coming to cheer up Sayaka last night.
B) My pleasure. It was a lot of fun. I love singing karaoke with friends.
A) Thanks to all the singing, she got over the disappointment of losing the game.
B) I hope so. It wasn’t her fault that the team lost. She played her best, and the other players were satisfied with the result.
A) We will definitely win next year!
B) That’s the spirit.

＊" That’s the spirit. " = その意気だよ

① I love singing karaoke with friends.
　友達と一緒にカラオケを歌うのは大好きなんだ。
② It wasn’t her fault that the team lost.
　チームが負けたのは、彼女のせいじゃなかったんだ。

＊①の文は目的語の位置に動詞ing がある。to不定詞よりリアルな ing の方がこの文に当てはまる。②の that は it の内容を説明している。

彼女は試合に負けたショックから立ち直りました。

＊" over " のイメージが「上にアーチ」だから、" get " と組み合わさると、ハードルを乗り越えていく感じになる。" above " は「高さが上」。

1）" over " だと、しっかり覆って守ってくれるイメージがあるが、" above " だと、ただ上にあるだけって感じになる
