Lesson222：「文型②　自動型」

 A) We have to set up the stage for the high school graduation ceremony by five o’clock.
 B) If we’d started earlier, we would’ve done everything by now.
 A) OK, let’s finish it quickly,
 B) Could you carry the potted pine tree onto the stage? Oh, be careful. It’s heavy.
 A) Don’t worry. Look! I can carry this with one hand.
 B) Don’t fool around, Takashi.
 A) Oh, no! This branch has broken! What should I do? Oh, I can use this glue stick to put it back together. Nobody will notice it.
 B) Listen to me. It’s a bad idea. You should tell our teacher and apologize.
 A) You’re probably right. I hope she understands.

Listen to me.
よく聞いてね。

＊自動型＝動詞の直後に目的語がない＝働きかける対象のない「単なる動作」である。listen は「耳を傾ける」動作。hear は他動型。

（例文）

・My son never listens to me.
　息子は僕の言うことを決して聞かない。
・Don’t listen in.
　盗み聞きをするな。
・I was listening for the result of the match.
　試合の結果に聞き耳を立てていた

1) I love listening to my granddad’s stories.
2) She must have been listening in on our conversation.
（解説）
2）" listen in on "  = この " on " は、何かにギュッと集中しているイメージがある
