～ラジオ英会話12月のテーマと目的～
・「倒置・疑問文」をマスターする
・倒置＝語順を変えること。主語―助動詞倒置をできるようにし、会話の肝である疑問文を作れるようにする。

Lesson168：「wh疑問文① 基礎」
（状況）文具店にギャリーとホビーが来てる

 A) Wow, this shop is so crowded.
 B) Yes, it’s always like this at the end of the year.
 A) So what do you need?
 B) I want to get some cute New Year’s cards.
 A) Oh, I see. Well, it’s going to be the Year of the Boar, and there are some cute boars on these cards.
 B) Yes, but I don’t like them much.
 A) I have an idea. You’re good at drawing, so why not make your own cards?
 B) Mmm… But I’m kind of busy these days. Let’s look around a little more.

 A) わあ、この店はとても混雑しているね！
 B) そうね、年末にはいつもこんな感じよ。
 A) それで、君に必要なものは何なんだい?
 B) かわいい年賀状を何枚か買いたいの。
 A) ああ、そうか。来年は亥年だから、ここにある年賀状にはかわいいイノシシが描かれているんだね。
 B) そうよ、でも、どれもあまり私の好みじゃないわ。
 A) いい考えがあるよ。君は絵を描くのが上手だから、自分なりの年賀状を作ってみたらどうだい?
 B) うーん……。でもこのところちょっと忙しいのよ。もう少し見て回りましょう。

What do you need?
あなたは何を必要としてますか？

＊wh疑問文。「need の後ろの目的」が空所であることから、「何を必要とする」かを尋ねていることが分かる。wh疑問文は、欠けている空所を尋ねるタイプの疑問文。空所があること大事！

（例文）

・What is that?　 あれ何?
・Who is that girl? 　あの女の子誰？
・Which do you like? 　どっちが好き?
・When are you leaving? 　いつ出発するの?
・Where did you buy that dress?　 どこであのドレス買ったの？
・How did you do that?　 どうやってやったの?
・Whose is this? 　これ誰の?
・Why didn’t you call me? 　なぜ電話をくれなかったの?

2) どこで会おうか?
3) どうすれば私の英語をもっと流暢で自然なものにできますか?

（答え）
1) Who is the performer you like the best in this band?
2) Where shall we meet?
3) How can I make my English more fluent and natural?
（解説）
2）shall = Let's より柔らかい勧誘表現
3）fl = 流れるイメージ （例）flood, flowing, fluent, flu , fluid
