Lesson226「便利な定型表現：同意の定型表現⑤　くだけた不同意」

Yayoi）Hey, Jonas. Did you read the email announcement?
Jonas）Announcement? From who?
Yayoi）It's from our new company president. Men have to wear a tie every day from now on.
yoiJonas）Are you serious?
Yayoi）Yes, that's what it says. He says our company has been too casual, and we need to look more professional.
Jonas）You must be joking!
Yayoi）I think the new president is kind of a strict person.
Jonas）You can say that again!

＊You must be joking! = まさか
＊jump to a conclusion = 結論を急ぐ

- Check your grammar -
① have to「（規則とした）必要性」，on「継続」
　Men have to wear a tie every day from now on.
　男性は今後は毎日ネクタイを締めなければなりません。
② 無生物主語
　Yes, that's what it says.
　はい、そう書いてあります。

＊くだけた「不同意」
＊" Don't give me that. " = 言い訳や嘘を拒否。
＊" come on. " = うんざりした感じ
＊ " come on. " = おそらく

　まさか（冗談でしょう）！

・Don't give me that.
　そんなことは言わないでくれよ。
　A）I can't go to karaoke with you because I have to study for tomorrow's English test.
　　君とカラオケには行けないな。明日の英語の試験の準備があるから。
　B）Oh, come on. You know you will always get the best score, even without studying!
　　おいおい、君は勉強しなくてもいつも一番を取れるってわかってるじゃないか。

- Express yourself in English -
1) 本気かい？　君は世界中を旅行するために仕事を辞めるのかい？
2) 冗談だろう。　君に10万円貸すなんてありえないよ。
3) やめてくれ！　君が陰で僕の悪口を言っているのは知っているんだよ。

（答え）
1) Are you serious? You're quitting your job to travel around the world?
2) You must be joking. There's no way I'm going to lend you 100,000 yen.
3) Don't give me that! I know you've been bad-mouthing me behind my back.
（解説）
 1) " There's no way " = ありえない
 3) " bad-mouth " = 悪口を言う
