Lesson229「相手の発言に興味を示す① 」

Myui）Hi, Charlie. I saw you on Sunday.
Charlie）Oh, did you? Where did you see me?
Miyu）It was in the shopping mall. You were with a young woman.
Charlie）Was I? Are you sure it was me? I was there alone on Sunday.
Miyu）Really? I'm pretty sure it was you. You seemed to be enjoying chatting with her.
Charlie）Oh, now I remember. That was one of my English students. We bumped into each other by chance.

＊You must be joking! = まさか
＊jump to a conclusion = 結論を急ぐ

- Check your grammar -
① it「状況を受ける」
　Are you sure it was me?
　それは確かに僕だったのですか？　
② bump into「ぶつかる＋衝突」，by chance「方法＋たまたま」
　We bumped into each other by chance.
　僕たちはたまたま出会ったのです。

I saw you on Sunday. — Oh, did you?
日曜日にあなたを見かけました。 -　おや、そうかい？
＊「あいづち疑問文」を使って、上手に「聞いていますよ」を言語化。
＊自分が興味を持っていることを言語化。
＊「相槌」= 相手の発言を「軽い」疑問文に変えて応答
＊相手の発言を繰り返すだけでいい。
＊「クッション」= Tell me, So, Hey

 （例文）
・You were with a young woman. — Was I?
　あなたは若い女性と一緒でした。　-　僕が？

・Tell me, what do you do? - I'm a doctor. - Oh, a doctor.
　ご職業は？　-　医師です。　-　おや、お医者さんなんですね。

1) （I went out with Jennifer on Saturday.）へえ、そうなの？　君が彼女に興味あるなんて知らなかったよ。
2) （Oh, no! I've forgotten my phone charger.） ああ、そうなの？　大丈夫。僕のを使えばいいよ。
3) （I was late for a really important meeting this morning. ）へえ、そうなんだ？　君の上司はすごく怒った？

（答え）
1) Oh, did you? I didn't know you were interested in her.
2) Oh, have you? Don't worry, you can use mine.
3) Oh, were you? Did your boss blow his top?
（解説）
 1) " since " = because より固い
 3) " blow his top " = 噴火のイメージ
