Peacock）Jessica, I have to tell you something. I'm thinking of retiring.
Jessica）Sorry, I didn't catch you. Could you repeat that?
Peacock）I'm thinking of retiring.
Jessica）What? I thought teaching and archaeology were your life.
Peacock）That's true, but I'm getting older, you know. Maybe my best days are behind me.
Jessica）Don't say that, Professor! Your classes are very popular, and you still have to find the ruins of Atlantis.
Peacock）Well, yes, that is still my dream.

＊my best days are behind me = 最良の時期は過ぎた
＊sharpen = （知性などを）鋭くする

　教えることと考古学は、先生の生きがいだと私は思っていました。

＊ " catch " =「（動いているものを）捕まえる」。相手の発言を掴む。
＊聞き返しパターン　

　① Would you mind repeating what you said?
　② Sorry? / Excuse me? / Pardon?
　③ I beg your pardon?　「とてもフォーマル　→　友達通しでは使わん」

（例文）
・I bought a loofah. - You bought a what?
　私はルーファ（ヘチマ）を買いました。 - 君は何を買ったって？

　A）I want you to put more passion into your speech..
　　スピーチにもう少し熱意を込めてほしいなぁ。
