Lesson164「yetの未完・alreadyの完了」
Mom）Vinny, have you finished all the preparation for tomorrow's test yet?
Vinny）No, not yet.
Mom）But it's a really important test, isn't it? You don't have time to play video games.
Vinny）Don't worry, Mom. I've finished most of it already. I'm taking a break.
Mom）Well, if you get it all done soon, I'll give you a special treat.
Vinny）What kind of treat?
Mom）Home-made cream puffs, your favorite dessert.
Vinny）OK, Mom. I'll get back to work right away.

① 付加疑問文「肯定と否定を入れることで相手に選ばせている」
　But it's a really important test, isn't it?
　でもとっても重要なテストなのでしょう？
② to 不定詞で名詞を説明
　You don't have time to play video games.
　ビデオゲームなんかしている時間はなありません。
③ 表現を言い換える「同格」
　Home-made cream puffs, your favorite dessert.
　手作りのシュークリーム、あなたのお気に入りのデザートです。

明日のテストのための準備はもう全部終わりましたか？

＊" yet " のイメージは「未完」。（出来事が終わっていない＝まだ）のニュアンスを添える副詞。軽く添えている感じ。。
＊" 接続のyet " は「逆説の butと違う」。" まぁそうなんだけど、それで話は終わりじゃないよ " という粘りがある。
＊" already " は「これまでに完了したこと」を表す。" yet " の逆。

　いいえ、まだです。
・Don't worry. She may yet change her mind.
　大丈夫。彼女はまだ気が変わるかもしれないよ。
・Your paper is pretty good, yet there's still room for improvement.
　君の論文はなかなかいいが、とはいえまだ改善の余地があるね。

　僕はすでにそれをほとんど終えました。
