・動詞をイメージでつかむ。

Lesson114「「すすめる・提案する」を表す動詞：recommend, suggest, propose」
A) So this is a real soba noodle restaurant. I love the atmosphere. Do we take off our shoes here?
B) Yes, you can put your shoes on the rack over here.
A) And we just sit on the floor like this?
B) Yes, that’s right. Here is the menu. There are no photos, unfortunately.
A) What do you recommend?
B) Well, what I usually order is the cold soba with shrimp tempura on the side.
A) That sounds wonderful. I’ll have that too.

＊" put forward " = 提案する
＊" a fortune " = 大金

（例文）
・I can’t accept your offer, I’m afraid.
　そちらの申し出を受けることはできません、残念ながら。

　雨は降っているが、試合はまだやる予定だよ、僕が知るかぎりでは。

What do you recommend?
あなたは何をすすめますか？

＊ " recommend " は「すすめる」。何かを相手に見えるように立ち上げる。
＊ " suggest " は「すすめる」。ただ自分の考えを述べているだけ。
＊ " propose " は「提案する」。事前によく練られた提案であり、しっかりとした提案。

（例文）
・The school principal recommended that my daughter apply to Oxbridge.
　学校の校長先生は、娘がオックスプリッジに出願することをすすめた。
・I suggest you phone her and say you’re sorry.
　彼女に電話してごめんって言ったら？
・I propose a radical downsizing of the company.
　私は会社の抜本的な人員削減を提案します。

1) その新しいイタリアンレストランを強くおすすめします。そこのピザはすばらしいですよ。
2) 便利だからタクシーを使ったらいいのではないですか？
3) アパートを買うよりも借りることを提案するよ。

1) I highly recommend the new Italian restaurant. The pizza is amazing.
2) I suggest taking a taxi for the sake of convenience.
3) I propose that we rent rather than buy an apartment.
（解説）
2) " for the sake of " = ～のために。利益に焦点が当たる。
3) " instruct " = 図表を使う「ビジュアル的な説明」
