Lesson62「have の表す行為」

 A) Jonas, do you have any plans for lunch?
 B) No, but it sounds like you do.
 A) Yes, I want to go to that new steakhouse.
 B) Steak for lunch? You must be hungry.
 A) I had a light breakfast this morning. Also, I’m giving a big presentation later, so I need lots of energy
 B) OK, I’ll join you, but I’d better burn off some calories first by cleaning up my office.
 A) Great. I’ll book a table for 12:30.

＊" treat " = 普段はない、素晴らしい出来事
＊" can’t say " = 分からない

- Check your grammar -
① You must be hungry.
　君はきっとおなかがすいているんだね。

② I’ll join you, but I’d better burn off some calories first by cleaning up my office.
　君につき合うけど、僕はまずこのオフィスを片づけてカロリーを消費したはうがよさそうだ。

＊" ’d better " = 圧迫感がある　。

　誰と飲みに行くのですか？

　いつまでここにいるのですか？

　君のすばらしいアイデアはどこから来るのですか？

- Build up your vocabulary -
I had a light breakfast this morning.
今朝は軽い朝食だったの。

＊ " have " は「範囲の中に何かがある」がイメージ。そこから「行為」もある。
＊" drink " = ごくごく飲む（リアル）, " have " = 単に近くに食べ物があり動作が感じられない

 （例文）
・Have another cake.
　ケーキをもうひとつ召し上がれ。
・Why don’t we have some tea?
　お茶を飲みませんか？
・I had a phone call from Chris last night.
　クリスから昨晩電話がありました。
・You can have my old laptop if you like.
　よかったら僕の古いラップトップをあげるよ。
・Have a seat, please.
　どうぞおかけになってください。

- Express yourself in English -
1) 今晩は夕食の前に、アペリティフをいただきましょうか。
2) 私たちは、カリブ海クルーズをして楽しみした。
3) このセーターをあげますね。私には小さすぎるから。

（答え）
1) Why don’t we have an aperitif before dinner this evening?
2) We had a fantastic time on the Caribbean cruise.
3) You can have this sweater. It’s too small for me.
（解説）
 1) " aperitif " = フレンチ料理
