Lesson31「withのイメージ：つながり」

 A) Hi, Aoi! Did you buy something to eat already?
 B) Oh, hi Yuichi. Yes, it’s a beautiful day so I wanted to have lunch in the park.
 A) Come and have lunch with us. We’re sitting over there.
 B) OK. Thanks.
 A) I wanted to invite you to lunch today, but you seemed busy.
 B) Yes, there are so many things to learn at the company. It’s hard being the new person.
 A) Don’t worry. Right now, let’s just relax.

＊" tender " =「肉」に関しては " soft " は使わん
＊" Kids today " = 今どきの子供

① Yes, it’s a beautiful day, so I wanted to have lunch in the park.
　今日は天気がいいから、公園でランチが食べたかった。
② It’s hard being the new person.
　新入社員ひとりだけという立場は大変なのよ。

＊①の様に " so " などで文をつなぎ、相手が応答しやすいようにする。

（例文）
・Shall we order pizza?
　ピザを注文しましょうか？

こっちに来て僕たちと一緒にランチを食べよう。

＊ここの " with " は「つながり（一緒）」。今回は場所のつながり。

 （例文）
・I like girls withwith blue eyes
　青い目をした女の子が好き。
・I don’t have a phone with me.
　電話は持っていないよ「身につけて」。
・What’s the matter with you？
　どうしたの？
・I’m satisfied with my new laptop.
　僕は新しいラップトップに満足しているよ。
・I tried to eat fish with chopsticks, but I gave up.
　魚を箸で食べようとしたけど、あきらめました。

1) あごひげのある男性は好きですか？
2) 今回だけは君に賛成だよ。

（答え）
1) Do you like guys with beards?
2) For once, I agree with you.
（解説）
1）" beard " = bi(ə)rd
2）" for once " = it’s a strong expression, I mean, at least it’s very rarely occasion.
