Dialog6「Talking more to the trainer」

A) Elvis barks all day when he’s left alone in his doghouse.
B) That’s a common problem. It’s okay, boy.
A) When we leave him inside, he tears the house apart.
B) I think Elvis has separation anxiety.
A) He does? I’m afraid you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
B) Elvis isn’t that old. Never say never!
A) Okay, boy.

・be left alone 　ひとりぼっちにされる
・doghouse 　犬小屋
・That’s a common problem.　それはよくある問題です。
・boy 　オス犬を呼ぶとき「メス犬はgirl」
・leave – inside 　〜を家の中に入れておく
・tear – apart 　〜をめちゃめちゃにする
・growl 　うなる
・separation anxiety　分離不安
・in agreement 　同意して
・You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. 　老犬に新しい芸は無理「ことわざ」
・Never say never! 　絶対無理とは絶対言わぬこと！

それはよくある問題です。

＊情報を伝える表現。" common " は「よく起こる」という意味。

Never say never!
＊ " 二番目の never " を強める。独特の抑揚があれば、きつい発言にはならん。

エルビスには分離不安があり、それで彼は一人残されると一日中吠えるのです。それはよくある問題です。

Elvis has separation anxiety, so he barks all day when he’s left alone. That’s a common problem.
