Lesson32「withのイメージ：時間的つながり」

A) I haven’t had French food for a long time.
B) But you’re French.
A) Yes, but it’s hard to find real French food here. This place is good though.
B) I love this area. It feels like Paris.
A) In some ways, yes, it does. OK, let’s order some wine. This one looks good. It was bottled in 1988.
B) That’s an old bottle.
A) Red wine improves with age. Just like me, right? Ha ha!
B) Uh, right.

＊" bottle - " = ～を瓶に詰める
＊" in some ways " = いくつかの点で

① I haven’t had French food for a long time.
　僕はもう長いことフランス料理を食べてないなぁ。
② Just like me, right?
　僕と同じだろ？

＊①の " for " は「範囲」。②の文は大げさに疑問部を作ることのない文。だから、" right?" とちょこっとした疑問文を使う。

・All the food looks delicious, doesn’t it?
　食べ物は全部おいしそうだよね？

＊ここの " with " は「つながり（一緒）」というイメージは「時間」にもつながる。

　ケンはインフルエンザで寝ている。

1) The job will get easier with time.
2) She waved goodbye to her parents with tears in her eyes.
（解説）
1）" get + 比較級 " = よく使う！
2）" for once " = it’s a strong expression, I mean, at least it’s very rarely occasion.
