Dialog1「Homework Crisis」

 A) Olivia, were you on my computer just now?
 B) No.
 A) Well, someone was.
 B) Don’t look at me.
 A) Oh, really, I’m going to get to the bottom of this. Mom! Olivia messed up my homework!
 B) I didn’t touch your computer! I know who did it now.
 A) Who?
 B) It was Buttons. Look, she’s playing with your keyboard right now!

- Words & Expressions -
・crisis 　危機 「複数 = crises」
・be on -‘s computer 　〜のパソコン（コンピュータ）を使う
・just now 　たった今
・Oh, really. 　あ、そう（なんですか）「下がり調子で言う」
・sarcastically 　皮肉な調子で
・get to the bottom of -　 〜の真相・原因を突き止める
・mess up – 　 〜をめちゃくちゃにする・ダメにする
・I know – now. 　これで…がわかりました。
・It was -. 　それは～でした。
・play with -　〜で遊ぶ。をいじる
・right now 　今（ちょうど）

- Apply It -
I’m going to get to the bottom of this.
この真相を突き止めてみせます

＊決意の表現。「この件の底」= " the bottom of this " に「たどり着く」= " get to " というイメージ。ここでの " I'm going to " には「きっと...する」という気迫がこもっている。

（応用練習）
A) Our little parsley pot is missing.
B) So is our shiso pot.
A) What’s going on?
B) I don’t know. but I’m going to get to the bottom of this.

- Say It -
I know who did it now.
＊" did it " →「ディディッ」とリンクする。また、" t " は我慢して言わない。こうすると、疲れにくくなる。　

- Write It -
誰かがオリビアのお兄さんの宿題をめちゃくちゃにしました。お兄さんは彼女が彼のコンピュータを使ったと思っています。ところが実はそれをやったのは彼らの猫のバトンズだったのです！

・ " is thinking" より" thinks " の方がナチュラル。
・" It was – who did it " = 最初に名前を言ってから説明する
