A) エイミー！　会えてうれしいよ！
B) どうも、ジェイコブ。
A) 休暇はどうだった？
B) 短いけど、よかったわ。
A) どこへ行ったんだい？
B) 今は話せないわ。バドが目を光らせているから。
A) 彼は機嫌がよくないんだ。
B) まあ、それはいつものことだけれど。
C) 二人とも話を止めて、仕事始めて！
A) 休憩時間に話そう。
B) 了解。

A) Amy! You’re a sight for sore eyes!
B) Hi, Jacob.
A) How was your vacation?
B) Short but sweet.
A) Where did you go?
B) I can’t talk right now. Bud is watching me like a hawk.
A) He’s not in a good mood.
B) Well, that’s nothing new.
C) You two need to stop talking and get to work!
A) Let’s talk during the break.
B) Gotcha.

＊状況を伝える表現。直訳は「鷹のように見つめる」で、英語でも「鷹の目」は鋭さの象徴。

エイミーが職場に戻りました。彼女の休暇についてシェフのジェイコブが尋ねますが、彼女は今話すことができません。経営者のバドが彼女に目を光らせています。

Amy is back to work. The chef, Jacob, asks (her) about her vacation, but she can’t talk right now. The manager, Bud, is watching her like a hawk.

・even if you say twice, it doesn’t sound redundant, either way.asks her about her vacation, or asks her how her vacation was.
