Lesson234：「英語固有のリズム：指定ルール①」

 A) Hi there. I’ve seen you here before. What’s your name?
 B) Alice.
 A) Hi, Alice. My name’s Burt. It’s nice to see you again. Do you come here after work?
 B) Yes, I work for a pharmaceutical company not too far from here.
 A) Oh, I think I know that place. It’s a big orange building.
 B) That’s the one.
 A) I thought you were a college student.
 B) Well, actually, I am a student. On the weekends, I take management classes for my MBA program.
 A) Oh, excellent.

- Real grammar for communication -
Well, actually, I am a student.
ええ、実は学生なんです。

＊「指定ルール：指定の意味合いの語句は前に置く」という原則のため " a student " という語順になる。" a, the, some, any " などの限定詞は「次に来る名詞がどんなものなのかを予め指定する言葉。" a " は「他にもある一つ」、" the " は「一つに決まるような」といった感じ。

・He is very tall.
　彼はとても背が高い。
・I usually get up around seven.
　ふだん7時ごろ起床します。
・I bought a red sweater.
　僕は赤いセーターを買ったよ

- Grammar In Action -
1) この大学に入るのは、本当に難しいんだよ。
2) 私の母は、めったに癇癪を起こさない。

（答え）
1) It is incredibly difficult to get into this university.
2) My mom hardly ever loses her temper.

（解説）
2）The image of temper is, like balance, or, being stable. So if you lose the balance, lose that stability, from there comes the meaning of “getting angry”.
