～ラジオ英会話1月のテーマと目的～
・関係代名詞 " who , which , that " と関係副詞 "where , when , why " といった節による修飾。
・修飾の本質が、空所にあることを理解する。

Lesson183：「関係代名詞 that ①　that の感覚」
（状況）たけるが母とお年玉について話している

 A) Takeru, you got a lot of money from your relatives on New Year’s, didn’t you?
 B) Compared to last year, it was about the same.
 A) Really? Show me how much you’ve got. I want to save your money as usual, so you don’t waste it on silly things.
 B) OK, here you go, Mom.
 A) Is this all?
 B) This is everything that I have.
 A) Are you sure? You usually get more than this.
 B) Yes, I already spent some on a new video game.
 A) What? You should have asked me first.
 B) Sorry, Mom.

 A) タケル、お正月に親戚の人たちからたくさんお小遣いをもらったわよね。
 B) 去年と比べると、ほぼ同じくらいだったよ。
 A) 本当に？どれくらいもらったのか見せなさい。あなたがくだらないものに無駄遣いしないように、いつものように私が貯金しておきたいから。
 B) いいよ、これがそうだよ、母さん。
 A) これですべてなの？
 B) 僕が持っているのはこれで全部だよ。
 A) 間違いないの？いつもなら、これ以上もらっているでしょうに。
 B) うん、もう新しいビデオゲームに、いくらか使ってしまったんだ。
 A) 何ですって？先に私に聞くべきだったのに。
 B) ごめんなさい、母さん。

- Real grammar for communication -
This is everything that I have.
僕が持っているのはこれで全部だよ。

＊ " that " は、聞き手の注意を離れたものに「導く」単語。このイメージから「つなぎ言葉」の使い方がある。「節を導く that」, 「同格の that」,「関係代名詞の that」とわざわざ用法で、分ける必要はない。

（例文）

・The teacher told me that I could do much better.
先生は僕にもっと成績などを上げられると言った。　that (接続詞)　
・We just got the news that my brother is getting married.
兄が結婚するという知らせを受けたばかりです。　that (同格)

（解説）
1）present is for a special occasion like a birthday or Christmas.
gift can be used for any occasion, any time, you want to, literally, give someone something to show your appreciation
