・関係代名詞 " who , which , that " と関係副詞 "where , when , why " といった節による修飾。
・修飾の本質が、空所にあることを理解する。

Lesson194：「関係副詞 where」

 A) I love Yokohama. There is so much to see and do in this city.
 B) What is your favorite area?
 A) Well, I like Minato Mirai and Yamashita Park, but I’d have to say Chinatown is my favorite.
 B) Yes, there is so much energy and excitement there. Of course, I’m proud of Yokohama, since Yokohama is the city where I was born.
 A) Oh, really? So, can you recommend a good restaurant in Chinatown? I’m getting hungry.
 B) Actually, you probably know more about the good places than I do. I was born here, but our family moved to Sendai when I was five. A lot has changed.

Yokohama is the city where I was born.
横浜は私が生まれた街です。

＊ " where " は city, office などの場所以外にも、case, situation, circumstance など、比喩的な場所にも使える。また、先行詞が -whereを含む "everywhere " や " place " である場合は、修飾にわざわざ where を用いる必要はない。

これが私が毎朝ジョギングをしに行く公園です
・My sister followed me everywhere I went.
妹は私の行くところどこにでもついてきた

2) This is the lake where I learned to water-ski.

1）" ages ago " = long time ago の誇張表現

2）where I learned how to water-ski , where I learned water-skiing でもOK
3)　We’d like to imagine a container. That’s full of trouble. Oops! You jump in, and you’re surrounded by trouble. So “in” is really the perfect match.
Yes, kind of, like a swamp, you know, you’re just inside the swamp, sinking down. Surrounded by trouble.
