～ラジオ英会話12月のテーマと目的～
・「倒置・疑問文」をマスターする
・倒置＝語順を変えること。主語―助動詞倒置をできるようにし、会話の肝である疑問文を作れるようにする。

Lesson169：「wh疑問文② 前置詞の後ろを尋ねる」
（状況）唐揚げにレモンを絞ろうとしたレオを止める

A) I love these year-end parties. It’s fun to enjoy tasty food and drinks with our co-workers .
B) I really enjoy them too. Oh! And here’s my favorite Japanese style fried chicken. Let me just squeeze the lemon all over.
A) Wait!
B) Hey, don’t put your hand over the chicken. What did you do that for?
A) Because some people don’t like lemon on it, and I’m one of them.
B) Oh, sorry. I just assumed lemon goes on fried chicken automatically.
A) You should ask before you do it next time. Anyway, don’t worry about it.

A) 私、こういう忘年会って大好きなの。職場の仲間と一緒においしいものを食飲んだりするのって楽しいわ。
B) 僕もとても好きだよ。ああ！僕の好物の鶏のから揚げがあるよ。僕にその上にレモンを搾らせて
A) 待って！
B) ちょっと、から揚げの上に手をかざさないでくれるかい。なぜそんなことをするんだい？
A) レモンをかけるのが好きじゃない人もいるし、私もそのひとりだからよ。
B) そうか、ごめん。僕は当然、レモンは鶏のから揚げによく合うものだと思ったんだ。
A) 次にそうするときは、あらかじめ尋ねるべきね。とにかく、気にしないで。

＊" assume " = ある前提や考えを受け入れる

＊" anyway " = 話題転換の表現。

なぜそんなことをするんだい？

＊wh疑問文は「空所・wh語・疑問形」の3点セットが必要。この文は、空所が前置詞 "for " の目的語にある。

（例文）

・Who are you going drinking with?
誰と飲みに行くの？
・When will you be here until?
いつまでここにいるのですか？
・What score are you aiming for on the test?
その試験で何点を目指しているの？
・To whom did you send the email?
どなたにeメールを送ったのですか？
・By when does this report have to be finished?
いつまでにこのリポートを終えなければなりませんか？

＊不安定に見える前置詞を文頭に持ってくることもできる

＊" to whom " はフォーマルすぎる感触がある。

1) 誰のためにこれらの花を買ったのですか？
2) いつまで私たちはここにいられるのでしょうか？
3) 君のすばらしいアイデアはどこから来るの？

（答え）
1) Who did you buy these flowers for?
2) Until when can we stay here?
3) Where do your brilliant ideas come from?
（解説）
3）brilliant = キラキラしたイメージ

　ideas = 一つでなく沢山あるから
