Dialog4「The New Nephew」

Bryan) You love your Uncle Bryan, don't you?
(The baby starts crying.)
Mary）He's a little fussy today.
(The baby cries louder.)
Bryan）I can see you've got your hands full.
Mary）You'd better believe it! I'm either changing diapers or doing laundry or cooking …
Bryan）Can you get a good night's sleep?
Mary）Honestly ― no. But I will say that being a mom is the best thing that ever happened to me.

・fussy　気むずかしい
・I can see you ～　あなたが～だと私にはわかります
・have (got) one's hands full　手いっぱいである
・You'd better believe it!　ほんとうにそうなんですよ!

- Apply It -
I can see you've got your hands full.
あなたが手いっぱいだということが私にはわかります

＊印象を伝える表現。I can see ... は「……だとわかる・感じる」という意味で、自分が受けた印象を伝える。" have (got) one's hands fullは、忙しすぎて他のことをする時間がない状態を表す。

（応用練習）
A) Do you want to go out for lunch?
B) Oh, I wish I could.
A) I can see you've got your hands full.
B) Yeah. I'll take a rain check on that.

- Say It -
Can you get a good night's sleep?
＊" good " の d を発音したつもりで一瞬息を止めて night's につなぐ。" night's " の s はそのままキープして sleep の s につなげる

- Write It -
　ブライアンにはメアリーが手いっぱいなことがわかります。彼女は夜もぐっすり眠れていません。しかし、母であることについてとても幸せであるようです。

Bryan can see Mary has her hands full. She can't get a good night's sleep either. But she seems (to be) very happy about being a mom.

・" arrange " = decide よりフレンドリー
