Lesson147「頭がいい：smart, clever, wise, bright, intelligent」
Catherine）I’d like to go to Kyoto to see the autumn leaves this weekend, but I have never been there. Do you have any recommendations?
Ken）Well, the autumn leaves are absolutely glorious at the moment. However, Kyoto will be very crowded on the weekend.
Catherine）Really? I hate crowds...
Ken）In that case, I suggest you go to popular places in the early morning.
Catherine）That’s a good idea! You are so smart. Thanks for your helpful advice.
Ken）No problem! Have fun!

- Check your grammar -
① however：前の文を一度切って「だけどね」
　However, Kyoto will be very crowded on the weekend.
　でも、週末の京都はとても混雑するだろうね。
② suggest = 気軽な提案
　In that case, I suggest you go to popular places in the early morning.
　だったら、人気のある場所には早朝に行くことをおすすめするよ。

＊" over the weekend " = 週末にかけて。

＊ " smart "  は「カッコイイ頭の良さ」。シュッとして知力が高く、キレよく効率的。一流のビジネスパーソンを思わせる知性を感じさせます。 
＊" clever " は「吉・頓智に富んだ人」。頭の回転と発想の豊かさがイメージ。誰も思いつかないようなことを思い付く。
＊ " wise " は「経験により熟成した知性・判断力」。世間知に富む年配の方に使うのが最も適している。若者には使わん。
＊" bright " は「明るい → 知性の明るさがにじみ出ている」。若者に使う。
＊" intelligent " は「最も深く高い知性が感じられる」。IQや学歴に関係なく「深い思考力・分析力・問題解決力」。

　ええっ、どうやってやったの？　すごく頭いいなぁ！
・I truly respect my granddad. He is such a wise man.
　私は本当に祖父を尊敬しています。彼はとても賢明な人です。
