・ 動詞をイメージでつかむ。

Lesson132「思考を表す動詞③ thinkの「上」と「下」：consider, guess」
Masami）Sota, you’re the best shogi player in our club.
Sota）Thanks. Shogi is the only thing I think about.
Masami）I recently discovered my real passion is English. I want to study abroad for a short period.
Sota）That sounds great.
Masami）Yes, but I can’t decide where to study.
Sota）There’s no hurry. Take time to consider your options.
Masami）You have the mind of a shogi player.
Sota）Shogi players think of all the options and choose the best one.

＊" corny " = つまらない
＊" relish " = 楽しむ、味わう

- Check your grammar -
① Shogi is the only thing I think about.
　僕がいつも考えていることといったら将棋のことばかりです。
② I want to study abroad for a short period.
　短期の海外留学うをしたいと思っています。
③ I can’t decide where to study.
　どこで勉強すべきか決められません。

＊" help " は「単に助ける」, " help 人 out " = 困難な状況にある人を助ける。

＊ " consider " は「考える・熟考する」。頭をしっかり回す感じ。いろいろ考えた結果というニュアンス。
＊" guess " は「推測する、なんとなく思う」。確信はないし、判断に役立つ情報も大してない。軽いタッチ。

　私はそれを私の義務だと思っています。
・I don’t consider salary to be the top priority when it comes to choosing a job.
　仕事を選ぶ際には、給料が最優先事項だとは思いません。
・He has no idea who the next captain will be. He’s just guessing.
　彼には次のキャプテンに誰がなるかなんてわかっちゃいないよ。あてずっぽうさ。
・John is coming, I guess.
　ジョンは来ると思うよ。
・Guess what!
　何だと思う？（びっくりする話なんだけど）
・Guess who I bumped into at the bookstore yesterday.
　昨日、私が書店で誰にばったり会ったと思う？

 1) " knows Sydney " = ,一番深い知識を知っている    " knows of Sydney " = 名前を聞いたことある程度,   " knows about Sydney " = 色々知っている程度,
 3) " tied up " = so busy
