Lesson116「許す①：let」
 A) Welcome to the London Theatre. I hope you enjoy the show!
 B) Thank you. This is my first time here, so let me ask you a quick question.
 A) Of course.
 B) Where is the balcony section in this theater?
 A) It’s on the first floor .
 B) Oh, aren’t we on the first floor? I can’t find it.
 A) This is the ground floor. The first floor is right above us.
 B) I see. American English and British English are different.
 A) In some cases, yes.

＊" put forward " = 提案する
＊" a fortune " = 大金

＊" hope " は「状況を思い描く」ことのできる動詞

Let me ask you a quick question.
ひとつ簡単な質問をさせて。

＊ " let " は「許す」。目的語説明型で使われる。" allow " と違い、軽い感じ。
＊ " tell me  " より" Let me know " の方がフレンドリー。

　ちょっとメールをチェックさせてください。
・Open the door! Let me in!
　中に入れてよ！ドアを開けて！
・Let me know when you’ve finished.
　終わったら教えてね。
・Harry let the cat out of the bag, so now everyone knows about our engagement!
　ハリーが秘密を漏らしてしまって、今やみんなが僕たちの婚約を知っているよ！

1) 僕は娘をそんなヤツと結婚させはしない。
2) そのイヌは放っておけよ。かむかもしれないよ。
3) 待ち合わせ場所を教えてね、いい？

1) I won’t let my daughter marry such a guy.
2) Let the dogs alone. They may bite you.
3) Let me know where the meeting point is, OK?

 1) " marry with " とはならない。" such a " は強調表現。
