Lesson96「watch のイメージ」

A) That ride was so much fun!
B) Yes, I haven’t been on a roller coaster since I was in high school.
A) Thanks for bringing me to this amusement park, Burt. Everything has been wonderful today.
B) Yes, it has. Alice, I need to tell you something.
A) Sure. What’s wrong?
B) Look at that guy over there. He’s been watching us since we arrived.
A) Huh? Oh, that’s my dad! What’s he doing here?
B) Your dad?

＊" a fortune " = 大金

① Thanks for bringing me to this amusement park.
　この遊園地に連れてきてくれてありがとう。

② Everything has been wonderful today
　今日は何もかもすばらしいわ。
③ He’s been watching us since we arrived.
　彼は僕たちがここに来てからずっと僕たちをじぃっと見ている。

＊③の s は省略できない。

＊ " watch " は「ジィッツッッと見る」→ 動きのあるものを見る。高い集中力が感じられる単語。
＊ " look " は「目を向ける」。
＊ " watch dog " は「番犬」。

（例文）
・Watch my stuff while I go for a swim.
　ひと泳ぎする間、私の荷物を見ていて。
・Watch your step.
（言動に）気をつけて。足元に気をつけて。
・Sorry I didn’t take your call. I was watching TV.
　電話とれなくてごでめん。テレビを見ていたんだよ。

　こちらを見て（ほら高いところにいるよ）
・Watch me!
　動きを連想させる動詞「見ていて（これからすべるから）」
