Lesson48「「運ぶ」を表す動詞の方向性：bring, take, carry」

A) Hi, Mirai! You got a dog!
B) Hi, Theo. Yes, he is my first pet.
A) He’s a cute little Shiba dog. What’s his name?
B) Paul.
A) Paul? You named your dog Paul?
B) Is that strange?
A) Well, British people usually don’t use such ordinary personal names for their pets.
B) Well, I love Paul. He has brought lots of happiness into my life.
A) Paul seems to like my dog, Sparky.
B) Yeah, they’re like good friends already.

　君の犬にポールと名付けたのかい？
② British people usually don’t use such ordinary personal names for their pets.
　イギリス人は通常ペットにそうした普通の人名を使わないんだ。

　私はいつも6時に起きる。

＊ここの " bring " のイメージは「持ってくる」= " come " の動き。" take " = 持っていく = " go " の動き。" carry " のイメージは「支える」→ 運搬する → （病気などを）媒介する。

　空港に連れていってあげるよ。
・What shall I bring to the party? – Just bring yourself?
　パーティーには何を持っていこうか？手ぶらでいいよ。
・I’ll carry your bag for you.
　君の荷物持ってあげるよ。

　蚊はマラリアを媒介する。

1) （あるレストランに行こうと相談している会話で）そのレストランに僕の犬を連れていってかまわない？
2) （海外旅行に出かける家族に）パスポートを持っていくのを忘れないでね。
3) このエレベーターは10人まで乗れます。

1) Is it OK to bring my dog to the restaurant?
2) Don’t forget to take your passport (with you).
3) This elevator can carry up to 10 people.

2) その場から離れる → take
3) " This elevator can carry maximum of 10 people." , " This elevator can carry no more than 10 people." でもOK
