・関係代名詞 " who , which , that " と関係副詞 "where , when , why " といった節による修飾。
・修飾の本質が、空所にあることを理解する。

Lesson189：「空所を使いこなそう」

 A) Congratulations, Mrs. Ikeda. Your daughter made an excellent speech, and she deserved to win the contest.
 B) We’re all absolutely delighted, and Akane is over the moon! Thank you so much for all your help.
 A) Actually, one of our American exchange students worked with Akane quite a lot. You see the girl with blonde hair over there? That’s the girl who helped Akane.
 B) I see. Well, thank you again, anyway. I’ll go and thank the exchange student personally.
 A) Good idea. And you can be very proud of your daughter. She’s a brilliant student.

 A) おめでとうございます、 池田さん。あなたの娘さんは、すばらしいスピーチをしたので、コンテストで優勝するのは当然のことでした。
 B) 私たちはみんなとてもうれしくて、アカネは大喜びです！先生のご支援をとても感謝しています。
 A) 実は、アメリカからの交換留学生のひとりが、アカネにずいぶん協力してくれたんですよ。あそこにいる金髪の女の子が見えますか？彼女がアカネの手助けをしてくれた女の子です。
 B) そうなんですか。重ねて感謝いたします。その交換留学生には直接会って感謝することにします。
 A) それはいいですね。それに、あなたは娘さんを非常に誇りに思っていいと思いますよ。とても優秀な生徒ですから。

- Grammar In Action -
1) この人が私をとてもすばらしいお手並みで治療してくれたお医者さんです。
2) この人が、僕がすっばらしい手並みで治療してあげた患者さんだよ。
3) シェークスピアはとても多くの人々に刺激を与えてきた文筆家です。
（答え）
1) This is the doctor that treated me so expertly.
2) This is the patient that I treated so expertly.
3) Shakespeare is a writer who has inspired so many people.
（解説）
3）亡くなってる人に、現在形を使っているのは、話し手は「今も心の中でシェイクスピアが生きている」ことを意識して、「今も刺激を与えている」から。＊別に過去形を使ってもいい。その場合は「死んでもなお、刺激を与えてる」的なニュアンスになる。
