～ラジオ英会話11月のテーマと目的～
・「過去分詞形 , 節」をマスターする。
・過去分詞形も「to 不定詞 , 動詞ing 」のようにひとまとまりのパッケージと考える。しかし、過去分詞形は " 修飾語句 " しか機能がない。

Lesson148：「受動態⑤ 目的語説明型の受動態」
（状況）盗難に遭った、オーナーのマーリンに質問している。

A) Hello, I am Inspector Jones. You are the owner of the art gallery?
B) Yes, Inspector. My name is Kate Marlow.
A) Ms. Marlow, can you tell me what happened this morning?
B) Yes. I am the first person to enter the gallery every morning. When I turned on the lights, I immediately saw that the Picasso painting by the door was gone.
A) Who was the last person to leave the gallery?
B) I thought it was me, but on the security camera recording, Emma, one of my assistants, is seen entering the room minutes after I left. But then the screen suddenly goes blank.
A) I see.

A) こんにちは、私はジョーンズ警視です。あなたがこのアートギャラリーのオーナーですか？
B) はい、警視さん。私の名前はケイト・マーローと申します。
A) マーローさん、今朝、何があったのか話していただけますか？
B) はい。私は毎朝このギャラリーに入る最初の人間なんです。私が照明をつけるとすぐに、ドアの横にあったピカソの絵がなくなっていることに気づいたんです。

A) 最後に部屋を出た人は誰ですか？
B) それは私だと思っていたのですが、防犯カメラの録画を見たら、エマという私の助手のひとりが、私が帰った数分後に部屋に入るのが映っているんです。でも、そのあと突然、画面に何も映らなくなるんです。
A) なるほど。

＊go blank＝「何も映らなくなる」

" go " は別の場所を移動する動詞。そこから、変化の「～になる」の意味を生じている。

　エマという私の助手のひとりが部屋に入るのが映っているんです。

＊" is seen entering the room " = 目的語説明型

" see Emma entering the room " を意識すれば作れる。目的語の" Emma " を主語とするだけ。

（例文）

・The guy was called Danger. (called the guy Danger)
その男は「危険」と呼ばれていた。
・The wall is painted red. (paint the wall red)
その壁は赤く塗られている。
・I was asked to make a speech at my ex-student’s wedding. (asked me to make)
私は卒業生の結婚式でスピーチするのを頼まれた。
・The kids were made to pay for the broken window. (made the kids pay for the broken window)
子どもたちは壊れた窓の弁償をさせられた。

1) 私たちは専門家に会うことを勧められた。

2) 私たちは病院で3時間以上も待たされた。

（答え）

1) We were advised to see a specialist.

2) We were made to wait over 3 hours at the hospital.

（解説）

1）specialist = expert

" meet "は, 単に二人の人間が会う。

” see a specialist " は、相談したり、情報を交換したりと深い意味がある。ここでは、" meet " は使えない。

2）over = more than
