Lesson49「視点の相違：leave」

A) Hello, Dad? Why are you calling me at work?
B) Jenny, did you check your pockets before you left the house this morning?
A) No, why?
B) You left your keys on the table.
A) Oh, did I?
B) Mom and I are going to eat out tonight, so I will bring your keys after work. Can we meet at the station at 6 o’clock?
A) Well, I’m not sure I can leave work that early.

あなたは鍵をテーブルに忘れていました。置き忘れる

＊ここの " leave " は「置き忘れる」で使われている。「置き忘れた場所」が具体的にある場合, " forget " より " leave " の方が使われる。
＊モノに注目すると「去る・出発する・出ていく・辞める」の意味になる。
＊離れた結果「残されたモノ」に注目すると「残す・置き忘れる・置き去りにする」の意味になる。
