Lesson38「句動詞 ：動詞と前置詞のコンビネーション」

 A) So we finally got to eat in a Taiwanese night market.
 B) Yes, Taipei is a food paradise. I want to try the “stinky tofu.”
 A) Stinky tofu? It doesn’t sound so good to me.
 B) Come on, Nathan. You have to be more adventurous.
 A) OK, Ill try it. Hmm. It’s actually quite tasty.
 B) I told you.
 A) Right. This is on me.
 B) Thanks a lot.
 A) Oh, no! Where’s my wallet? It was in my jacket pocket.
 B) Look. It’s under the table.
 A) Thank goodness!

＊" stinky tofu " = 臭豆腐
＊" Come on " = 相手をたしなめる表現

＊前置詞はおく位置によって意味が変わる。前置詞句は一つの塊として考える。

・Under the table is our cat’s favorite sleeping place.
　テーブルの下が、私たちのネコが寝るお気に入りの場所なんです。

1) The guy in the red sports car is a famous actor.

（解説）
2) " with all due respect " = それはごもっともですが、失礼ながら
