Lesson121：「 to不定詞①主語位置に置かれた to 不定詞」

（状況）Irving 先生は、一人で昼食を食べているマサトに声をかけ、友達作りで苦戦してるマサトに読書クラブを勧めている。

- 英文 - 

 A) Hi, Masato. You’re having lunch by yourself today?
 B) Since I came to this school, I’ve always had lunch alone. To make new friends is not so easy.
 A) Yes, that’s true. It takes time to make new friends.
 B) What can I do, Ms. Irving?
 A) How about joining our book club?
 B) Oh, I don’t like reading very much.
 A) No problem. We watch a lot of movies as well.
 B) That sounds fun.
 A) There’s a meeting at 4:00 today. Why don’t you join us?
 B) OK. Thanks, Ms. Irving. I’ll be there.

・since S + V 　〜していらい、から

・not so easy　それほど～でない（部分否定）
・as well = too　～もまた

・It takes 時間 to do　〜するのに-時間-かかる

新しい友達を作ることは、そんなに簡単なことではない。
 A) Yes, that’s true. It takes time to make new friends.

- Key Sentence -
・To make new friends is not so easy.（主語）
・I want to make new friends.　　（目的語）

「 to 動詞の原形 ~ 」→  一つのまとまりと認識する！

＊" to " は文中の場所により、主語・目的語・修飾語になる

⇒ 場所さえ意識すれば、マスターできる！

+ 修飾用法の例
・What's the best way to make new friends? (名詞を修飾）
・I joined a tennis club to make new friends.（動詞を修飾）

主語位置のto不定詞は文が長くなりやすい

⇒「 It ~ to 」が使われる。

1) 保険をかけずに旅行に行くのは決して賢明ではない。

 保険＝insurance 　賢明な＝advisable, recommendable
2) この段階であきらめることはまったく選択肢にはない。
 この段階＝at this stage　 選択肢　option

1) To travel without insurance is never advisable.
　= It’s never advisable to travel without insurance.
2) To give up at this stage is simply not an option.
