-Monday Lesson 121 -

 A) Hi, Masato. You’re having lunch by yourself today?
 B) Since I came to this school, I’ve always had lunch alone. To make new friends is not so easy.
 A) Yes, that’s true. It takes time to make new friends.
 B) What can I do, Ms. Irving?
 A) How about joining our book club?
 B) Oh, I don’t like reading very much.
 A) No problem. We watch a lot of movies as well.
 B) That sounds fun.
 A) There’s a meeting at 4:00 today. Why don’t you join us?
 B) OK. Thanks, Ms. Irving. I’ll be there.

-Tuesday Lesson 122 -

 A) Bob, I want to become fluent in English.
 B) But you’re already pretty fluent in English.
 A) No, no, no. I make lots of mistakes.
 B) But listen, Nana. We can learn a lot from our mistakes.
 A) OK, but I still want to become even better at speaking. Any advice?
 B) Well, spend at least an hour just speaking in English every day. Don’t use any Japanese. And I recommend listening to English radio programs and news.
 A) English radio programs?
 B) Yes. Actually, I also need to listen to more of them. My English isn’t so good these days.

-Wednesday Lesson 123 -

 A) This medical lab is amazing. It’s so high-tech and clean. I want to work in a place like this someday.
 B) Well, when you’re an adult, this place will look old- fashioned. Do you have a goal for the future, Maki?
 A) Yes, my goal is to find a cure for cancer.
 B) Wonderful.
 A) Do you have any advice for young people who want to be a doctor?
 B) Always think about the patients first. That’s the most important thing.
 A) I see. That’s an excellent point. Thank you for the tour of your medical lab, Dr. Cheng. You really inspired me.
 B) You inspired me, Maki.

-Thursday Lesson 124 -

 A) We’re going to the picnic next Monday, right? I can’t wait!
 B) Yeah… I’m really looking forward to it.
 A) It doesn’t sound like it. What’s wrong?
 B) To tell you the truth, I might not be able to go because I have a problem with my car.
 A) I see. So do you need someone to give you a ride?
 B) Er… that’s right.
 A) Well, don’t worry. Let’s go together. I’ll pick you up around 11:30, OK?
 B) Are you sure? I don’t want to trouble you.
 A) No problem at all. What are friends for?

- Practical Challenge -

「二度と遅刻しません」と約束してくれたのですが、今日も10分遅れで教室にやって来ました。車の運転士には時間に正確であることが要求されます。こんなことを続けていては夢を実現することはできませんよ」

promise not to – 〜しないと約束する
train driver 電車の運転士 , require 要求する
punctuality 時間厳守、時間に正確であること、形容詞 punctual
realize your dream あなたの夢を実現する

- Simple Answer -
You promised not to be late again, but look what’s happening. Your goal is to be a train driver, right? That job requires punctuality. If you go on like this, you won’t be able to get your dream job!

- Advanced Answer -
I can’t believe you’re late again, despite all your promises. And yet you say you want to be a train driver in the future. You know, to be punctual is an essential requirement of such a job. If you are to realize your dream, you’re going to have to change your ways!
