Q: What’s that sound? Is that a video game?
1) Yeah. it’s an old video game.
2) Wow! That brings back memories.
3) Yeah. I used to play this game a lot.
A) Wow! So, this is what Japanese cafes used to look like, right?
B) Yeah, being here, I feel like I’ve gone back in time to the Showa Era.
A) Check this out. Is this a public telephone. It’s pink? Have you ever seen a pink telephone like this?
B) Yeah, those are old school. They’ve been used since the Showa Era in Japan. They’re mostly used in small shops like cafes.
A) Does it still work?
B) Let’s try. Oh, this one doesn’t work any more.
A) How much does the telephone call cost? One hundred yen?
B) This one only takes ten yen coins. But most public phones we use, ah, what-cha-ma-call-it, a card for public telephones. A telephone card.
A) Oh, what’s that sound? Is that a video game?
B) Oh, yeah. Wow! That brings back memories.
A) Oh, this is an old video game. I’ve seen this in the U.S. Let’s play.
B) Why not? We might as well.
A) All right. I’ll be the gorilla. Who do you wanna be?
B) I’ll be the princess. Okay, here we go.
